*About Fierst Rabbits*
We started with two mini lops in the fall of '04. Throughout the years, we started adding more breeds and rabbits... now we have a wide variety of breeds! We may not be the biggest rabbitry out there, but that is more than fine with us. We give each rabbit a unique name (all after foods!) instead of just a number.
Each rabbit's personality is important to learn, and we have taken the time to do just that. With each personality also comes the behavior and habits of the rabbit. Knowing the strengths and weaknesses of each rabbit not only benefits the rabbit, but also the owner. We are always open to people who are interested in looking around the rabbitry, those who are just getting starter, or want to know more about rabbits before jumping into it.
Breeding and showing is the big part of our rabbitry, but if they can't breed and can't be shown, they get retired. We just can't seem to let go of our veterans, they serve us so well, we always make room for them here! We do this mainly for fun and adventure. It feels great when a judge compliments you on your bunnies, even though the rabbits are the ones that do all the real work.
Each rabbit is special. Every single one makes stories and each story they make stays in our hearts. They truly are a remarkable animal to raise! We are more than just a rabbitry, we're a family. We have many excellent show rabbits, but we also have some rescues, unwanteds, and chronically ill bunnies (ones which such troubles as malocclusion, epilepsy, and wry neck). I have spent many nights holding sick rabbits to make them more comfortable, syringe feeding, giving shots and medicines, and doing just about anything I can to make them better. No matter how much a bunny needs, it is always worth it when you see their loving faces every morning and watch them live their lives!
